Purpose of Research

The purpose of this action research study is to investigate and develop effective workplace training and implementation models for staff members in higher education serving in crisis related roles. Effective workplace training for this study is defined as training that results in knowledge gained being implemented or attempted to be implemented in the participant’s workplace setting, and potentially result in increases in staff morale and retention and a decrease in negative mental health outcomes due to workplace trauma. Knowledge generated is expected to inform better workplace training and practices surrounding crisis related roles.

Trauma Informed

Trauma informed practices, policies, and procedures to help enhance your supervision and craft psychological safety within your department

Kotter’s Model of Change Management

Change in higher education is hard, but not impossible. This course will cover the Kotter Model of Change Management to help make lasting change and impacts that are supported

Impact Plan Development

Have dedicated time within the course to develop your own impact plans that will be directly impactful to your team and your community

Support in Proactive Change

Receive dedicated support and guidance through human connection to enact and pursue these changes - you won’t have to go it alone
